I approached Qlicksmart about the SnapIT ampoule opener as some of our nursing students had cut themselves opening glass ampoules during clinical placement. One student required sutures to a laceration. The SnapIT is a very useful tool for nursing students, as it not only makes opening glass ampoules easier but also prevents them from injuring themselves in the process. Our second and third year nursing students have shown a keen interest in the tool with many purchasing a SnapIT.

The injury (to the right thumb) did pose some difficulties for nearly a week, those difficulties include holding a pen (as stated), using a syringe to draw up medications, administering medications via a syringe and cannulation of a patient.

Recently a colleague of mine cut her finger on a glass ampoule which resulted in four stitches and a week off work. With 23 years nursing experience I have cut fingers on glass ampoules countless times. These cuts potentially leave me susceptible to infection with Hepatitis B, C, HIV or other blood borne diseases. My Beautiful Wife is in her 2nd year University to become a registered Nurse and during her placement at a Hospital has come across the cut finger on a glass ampoule, she had only said to me 3 days ago someone should invent something so this would not happen and now it has happened.  Excellent invention and hope to be able to purchase one soon.
