"The scalpel blade industry is undergoing significant change. Scalpel blades are ubiquitous in hospitals and surgeries, but they present a danger to staff. With an increasing number of sharps and needle-stick injuries, medicos are now demanding scalpels with safety mechanisms.
The problem with existing safety scalpels is that they don't feel like "real scalpels"--they differ in terms of feel, weight and overall use. Because of this many surgeons are continuing to use conventional scalpels and scalpel blades, despite the risk of injury. The AIC’s Market Research report examined the global industry and identified key issues and trends, major competitors and the technology’s growth potential. It also included recommendations for overcoming several key barriers to taking the new scalpel blade technology to market."

We have been using the Qlicksmart in our facilities. It is an extremely simple, easy to use device. The nursing staff in the hospital thoroughly enjoy using this product. Getting surgeons to change to safety scalpels have been almost impossible, so this is a very good alternative. I suggest you become associated with a GPO and start mass marketing. I think this would be the perfect product for MD clinics and offices in addition to ORs. I thank you for introducing us to this product.

I choose to protect my staff, by minimising the risk of unnecessary scalpel blade injuries and potential contamination from blood borne diseases by utilising Qlicksmart Scalpel Blade Removal Devices in all my Surgical Procedure Rooms.
They are cost effective, safe devices, that are very user friendly and readily procurable through the central stores of Queensland Health.
I am happy to endorse this product and believe they should be mandatory devices in all surgical units using removable scalpel blades.

The Flask is a dependable sharps bin for use in minor operating theatres as in Emergency Department Fast Track and acute areas. It is easy to use and very practical. Since we have introduced this we have had no sharps injuries from blade removal. It is easy to train staff in and once used once the Resident Medical Officers and Nursing staff have immediate competency in this equipment. I feel that it is a good strategy for risk reduction in the Emergency Department and I endorse this product that makes life safer in high risk areas such as Emergency Medicine.

I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the Qlicksmart Blade Removal System.
The Podiatry staff and I at Canterbury Hospital have been trying the system for some weeks now and have found that this product is an excellent system at present for removal scalpel blades from their handles.
We have found the system to be user friendly in that its operation in blade removal is easy and safe.
A bonus of the system is that it is portable, in that we take the container along on our domiciliary visits making sharps disposal and transportation very safe.
At present we undertake undergraduate Podiatry student training at the clinic and encourage students to use the system.
I have also introduced the system to all Podiatry clinics across Central Sydney Area Health Service, and from a Directors view, see this as an important matte for the occupation health and safety of staff.
I congratulate you and company on an excellent product, I also wish to thank Keryn Vilo who paid a visit to us recently and was able to enlighten the staff on the use of the system.

The Wesley Breast Clinic is a multidisciplinary facility set up to promote the early diagnosis of breast cancer and to provide a service for the whole spectrum of breast diseases.
We currently see approximately 25,000 patients per year and perform approximately 600 core biopsies per year either under stereotactic or ultrasound guidance. These procedures require a small incision to be made into the breast tissue to allow entrance of either the core biopsy or mammotome needle. For some years now we have been using the Qlicksmart device as a safe and effective means of scalpel bladed disposal. I am unaware of any staff incidents relating to the use of scalpel blades since the introduction of the Qlicksmart device.
I would be happy to recommend its use.

The Dermatology/Skin Cancer Center, PA had the opportunity to sample and try the Qlicksmart product for blade removal. We had very good success with this product with no difficulty with use. The ease of this product is wonderful and very efficient. Safety with this is exceptional and removes the blade without having to do any actual blade handling with any type of blade removers. The nursing staff thoroughly enjoyed the product and wanted these placed in every room for case of scalpel removal.
We highly recommend considering using this product for physicians who use routine scalpel blade on scalpel handles. The ease and safety profile of this is excellent.

The Foot Clinics of New York is the training arm of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine.
Several students at the Foot Clinics of New York (the training arm of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine) received minor lacerations while removing blades. They researched and then purchased the Qlicksmart Scalpel Blade Removal System for their own use.
Their Professor saw the Qlicksmart and introduced it at the Foot Clinics monthly Quality Assurance meeting and the Infection Control Committee meeting. He reported that everyone was very impressed.
The Foot Clinics of New York are currently trialling the Qlicksmart Scalpel Blade Remover in eleven of their treatment rooms.
