In May 1994, Sr Anne Todkill said to her long term friend and colleague, Dr Neville Henry AM, "There has to be a better way."
Anne was referring to a rusty old pair of artery forceps, tied by a string to a sharps bin. This was how the "innovators" of the time removed used scalpel blades. (The others still used fingers.)
Against all the odds, the end results of Neville's tinkering in his garage is the "World's first single handed scalpel blade remover". The company Qlicksmart Pty Ltd was also formed to commercialise the invention to ensure that end-users were able to buy and use the device to prevent infection and injury.
Unlike the large multinationals, our marketing budget is very limited. We rely on clever "innovative" ideas to get the word out to people who can change bad habits into good ones.
To survive, invent and commercialise more medical safety products, we need YOUR help.
We need you to test the product and tell us how we can improve it and then IF and ONLY IF you think it is a good product we need you to tell your friends - other innovators and early adopters.
